The Ocreza Prehistoric Valley, located in the municipality of Mação, is one of Portugal's most important Paleolithic rock art sites. Renowned for its prehistoric engravings, comparable to those of the Côa Valley, this extraordinary landscape preserves unique evidence of human presence during the Upper Paleolithic period.
Among the engraved figures are horses, aurochs (prehistoric wild cattle), and other animal representations. The famous "Ocreza Horse", discovered in 2000, has become one of the most significant symbols of this remarkable archaeological heritage.
